My latest creation

I need to help Jp put together his model plane ($1 purchase at Michael's today), but I wanted to jump on really quickly and show you all my latest Wilton cake. Two of the clowns have since been eaten by eager children. The cake was in honor of Kalea Vanderzanden (Beth's little girl) who turned 1 yesterday. Happy Birthday Kalea! I wish we could be there to party with you!

Thanks, Judy! I actually just spent the last 2.5 hrs practicing the Wilton Rose that I NAILED in class, or so I thought. Couldn't do it! GRRRR! Aren't hobbies supposed to be relaxing? I did go online and googled it and apparently it's the hardest flower to master, so I don't feel quite as bad about it now :-). But 9 roses are the centerpiece of next week's cake. Guess I'll be practicing some more!

Great job, Becca. Before you know it, you'll be doing wedding cakes!

Thanks, Mom! Our instructor was telling us a little about what she and other cake places charge for specialty cakes. WOW, is there money to be made! One place she said will charge a minimum of $5 per serving for anything with fondant. A wedding cake, serving only 100 people would be at least $500, before the cost of embellishments! I'm trying really hard not to think about the business potential of this, though, because I want to keep it fun.

Beautiful! Sorry we're just getting around to checking the blog! Parker licked the screen when he saw the cake!
